Roberto Gato Echanique is an award-winning artist and designer for stage and gallery.
I have over 17 years as a producing artist and designer for theatre, concerts and special events including teaching theatre/events production in university and workshops. Currently I am a freelance designer and Technical Director for CulturalDC, an Arts nonprofit. In addition to creating for the visual and performing Arts, I consult for the development of Arts spaces and facilities, effectively translating between the needs and wants of artists, architects, engineers and developers.
My art straddles the disciplines of performing and visual arts, speaking fluently in steel, wood, acrylic and illustrative verse. I communicate in functional or decorative installation, in two, three or four dimensions. Through the process of collecting photography, paintings, and by taking field notes and sketches, I study and document the places and inhabitants of our realities as an explorer from our fictions. In turn these elements are distilled and used to create something new.
I am always open for commissions and consultation. It is my privilege and passion to serve and create.
